Teddy Roosevelt and the Bear cast iron mechanical bank Picture(s) and Description:
This is a Teddy Roosevelt and the Bear antique cast iron mechanical bank, made around 1907 by J&E Stevens. It has the original paint, and there aren't any cracks or other damage. Put a coin on Teddy's rifle, pull it back to cock it, push the lever by Teddy's feet, and the coin flies into the slot on the tree trunk, and the bear pops up from the top of the tree trunk. To re-set it, you just push the bear's head down until it clicks into place, and close the lid on the tree. The bottom of the bank has "Pat Apld For" embossed. The original cap that you twist to remove to get the coins out is still there. Someone wrote "2500" on the base. It is about 10" long, and 9.5" high when the bear is up. This is a really nice bank, great for the presidential collector, or the big game hunter. One thing about the photos is that the green on the base is not nearly as bright and shiny as the photo flash makes it look. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 3-DAY AUCTION. I will not be reachable from June 26- July 12. Please don't pay until after I send the invoice because the insurance amount depends on the selling price. The last two photos are of banks that I am listing today, but remember that this auction is for the Teddy & the Bear bank only. Thank you for your interest.
